Huqiu Shan is the burial place of He Lu, the King of Wu. He is also the founder of this city, Suzhou. His spirit is said to be guarded by a white tiger that appeared three days after his death and refused to leave.
The main attraction is the Song-dynasty leaning pagoda, Yunyan Ta or Cloud Rock Pagoda, constructed between 959 and 961. This brick building leans more than two metres from the perpendicular at its highest point. Tiger Hill with pools, canal, and flower beds filled with spring blooms is a placid park to while away many an hour.
