DAY THREE - THE WET MARKET

We discover our area of Suzhou boasts shops and a vegy wet market within walking distance of the apartments. We visit this neighbourhood market which shows some similarity to the Belconnen Market. Not only are 'Green Grocers' on show but florists, grain merchants and butchers have stalls. Upstairs we purchase fruit. Most fruits are familiar to us but there are some which must be very Asian. Vegetables are bought downstairs, and again we discover different Chinese vegetables amongst our known Aussie varieties.

We carry home our goodies, pointing at the high rise apartments airing washing and bedding over balconies. Who needs clothes driers on days like this? Now at home, the girls peruse the photos snapped at the markets and the apartments passed as we trudged along the pavements.

Wow! The lady is WELCOME to buy a bouquet.
Are we needing grains such as rice?
Exiting the local shopping centre.
Waiting in the median strip to let traffic pass before crossing the avenue.
Airing the bedding or did the occupants experience a flood?
Balconies are useful for drying clothes.
Today must be Monday!
Mum, did you buy the yummy bananas?
