TUCKER SEARCH IN SUZJOU

FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD!

Another amazing VW taxi journey brings us home from Old Suzhou. The Aussie Tim Tams are unravelled from their packaging and we lounge around the table as Arlo enjoys immensely arvo tea with us. The pantry needs restocking with groceries so we walk to the local supermarket. This evening stroll enables us to experience homeward bound workers cluttering roads in buses, cars and electric bikes. We find the supermarket displays items in aisles similar to our Aussie stores. The necessary items such as cereal, milk, cheese and butter are placed in the trolley behind one, sitting pretty and happy toddler. Purchases now paid, in cash only as cards of any sort are very rarely used, we move onto the European style Bakery.

Various loaves, rolls and other goodies are on display. Oh, the choice is very, very difficult. The purchases are wrapped by the the spick and span, smartly dressed Chinese bakery assistants,. Payment is made. Homeward bound are we, watching neon lights illuminate avenues, traffic and buildings through the fading, gloomy light.
Tim Tams are really yummy!

Hello! These customers require dairy products
from New Zealand!
Did you see me snaffle the chips?
Customers searching for cereals.

Can you believe the choice of bread
here in China?
This lot of bakery items should keep the
Chinese dragon from the door!

  1. Looks like you can buy whatever you need/want in the supermarket. Is it pricey compared with Woolies and Coles?
